Perhaps you’ve seen the telltale black and yellow straps hanging off apparatus at your local gym, or actually observed personal trainers working with clients on these hanging contraptions. You are intrigued, but not quite sure of what is going on. We are here to tell you that what you are witnessing is nothing kinky, but is in fact the most ingenious training system to hit the market since Arnold invented biceps.
The TRX Suspension Training system was invented by a Navy Seal as a tool to allow the Seals to keep in shape when they found themselves in the middle of nowhere. The beauty of the TRX training is that it allows you to develop strength, flexibility, balance and power using just your own body weight as resistance, regardless of your level of fitness or location.
We have TRX workouts for everyone, from beginners to athletes.
Q. They’re just straps, with handles for your hands or feet. What’s so special about that?
A. The “magic” of the TRX is that by attaching your hands or feet to the straps, which are anchored to a point overhead, your body is forced to strongly engage all the stabilizer muscles that run throughout your core. These are tiny muscles that are rarely called into service during normal activity or traditional forms of exercise, but are constantly engaged while performing any exercise with the TRX, therefore building a strong core.
Q. So what kind of exercises do you do on a TRX?
A. Check out this TRX workout at our studio:
Regardless of the class you take, you are in control of how much you want to challenge yourself for each exercise because you can adjust your body position to instantly adapt resistance and help the right muscles work in proper sequence delivering a balanced workout.
